PROJECT: SONY ELECTRONICS HEADQUARTERS, SAN DIEGO
PRODUCT: 1,275 Roller Shades (motorized & manual)
As part of a massive relocation effort to join support offices in Southern California, the Sony Electronics Inc. corporate headquarters site located in San Diego has embarked in a new construction endeavor, adding building eight to the already 1.8 million square feet of floor space on over 94 acres of real estate. The modernly designed eleven story building on the Rancho Bernardo campus will add to the largest U.S.-based location with over 2,600 employees, slated to be completed and fully operational by June 2009. Sundt/Pacific Building Group selected Sheward & Son & Sons to provide the design, engineering, project management and installation for 1,375 manual and motorized Roller Shades that will promote sun control protection for employees and solar heat control to reduce energy consumption. As part of Sony Electronics' ongoing environmental protection efforts, the company selected the Eco-Veil environmentally friendly window coverings collection, with a 5% openness factor made of 100% Thermoplastic Olefin, manufactured by Mecho Shades. Floors one through ten will utilize manual roller shades in all offices and meeting rooms that are exposed to direct sunlight and the exclusive 11th floor will showcase motorized shades to accommodate an employee fitness center and gourmet restaurant.
